    Pushback Rack in Ogden, UT

Pushback rack in Ogden offers compact reserve storage for repeated production and distribution loads while preserving aisle-side forklift access. Several pallets sit behind one another instead of each requiring an adjacent aisle. This arrangement can suit manufacturing buffers, provided the product quantities and retrieval rules support the proposed lane assignments.

Industrial components and aerospace supplies need more scrutiny than a simple count of pallet positions. Heavy parts, lighter packaged goods, and controlled batches can require different support arrangements and access. Sort those load families first, then decide which reserves belong in deeper lanes and which must remain individually reachable.

Pushback rack mechanics for production reserves

Configurations commonly run 2–6 pallets deep using nested carts on inclined rails. Loading a new pallet pushes the preceding loads rearward. As the aisle-side pallet is removed, the remaining loads move forward through the designed unloading sequence. Pallet condition and controlled truck handling are central to that movement.

The forklift remains in the aisle, unlike a truck-entry storage arrangement. Operators can serve adjacent lanes without driving inside the structure, but the approach still needs room for alignment and withdrawal. Account for attachments, bulky packaging, and the load's full dimensions when setting the aisle and storage elevations.

Lanes follow LIFO, meaning last-in, first-out. The most recent receipt is generally available before earlier pallets behind it. Production planning must therefore distinguish interchangeable reserves from batches with a required release order; storing both under the same broad part description can create an access problem.

Designing around Ogden production and freight movement

Business Depot Ogden, or BDO, and the 12th Street industrial area provide useful context for manufacturing storage, while I-15 and I-84 connect regional inbound and outbound movements. An aerospace supplier's lane plan should distinguish production buffers from inspection holds and shipping batches. Those internal steps determine reserve access more directly than highway proximity. As a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., we bring supplying and installing experience extending back to 1997.

Pushback pallet rack design around industrial loads

    1

    Measured SKU quantities

Let actual pallets per SKU determine lane depth across normal production cycles and shutdown buffers. A large one-time build should not establish every lane's configuration when ordinary balances fall well below that quantity.

    2

    Cart contact

Review pallet bottoms, runner positions, deck strength, and load concentration against the selected carts. A heavy component mounted off-center can require different consideration from an evenly distributed pallet of finished cartons.

    3

    Beam and frame capacity

Base beam and frame sizing on maximum loads, lane geometry, rail reactions, and planned level spacing. Verify the complete assembly rather than assigning one beam specification to every location because the outer dimensions match.

    4

    Retained materials

Assess existing rack compatibility through component identification, connection details, condition, and capacity documentation. Prior service as selective storage does not prove that a frame or beam can support a proposed cart-and-rail arrangement.

Pushback rack choices within a mixed storage plan

Selective rack can retain access to tooling pallets, short component runs, and batches that require individual selection. Concentrate suitable repeated loads in deeper reserves without removing this flexibility. The better comparison is the occupied capacity of the combined plan, not a drawing filled entirely with one storage type.

Drive-in storage can be considered for large quantities of the same interchangeable product where truck entry fits the operation. Its supporting rails and truck clearances involve a different design review. Compare how often operators enter lanes and how much dedicated depth each product will genuinely occupy.

FIFO pallet flow is worth evaluating for production inputs that must issue in receipt order. Separate loading and retrieval faces support that sequence but require corresponding access space. Where manufacturing release rules are strict, preserving the sequence may matter more than fitting the greatest theoretical number of reserve positions.

Show the loads behind your production buffer

Start a pushback rack discussion with pallet balances by part number, representative load photographs, maximum weights, and production-release rules. Mark receiving, inspection, and dispatch areas on the drawing. A useful scope will explain lane depths and reuse decisions while identifying where inventory and installation materials can wait during the work. (801) 942-0493.
