Pushback Rack in Salt Lake City, UT
Pushback rack in Salt Lake City can consolidate full-pallet reserves while leaving the forklift at the aisle face. Storage lanes hold multiple pallets behind one another, allowing fewer aisles within the reserve block. The approach suits replenishment inventory better than stock requiring unrestricted selection of every pallet throughout the working day.
Food distribution, outdoor recreation brands, and third-party logistics operations often carry a mixture of repeated reserves and short product runs. Separate those inventory groups before comparing position counts. A compact block should support active picking and receiving, not consume the floor space those activities need to keep orders moving.
Pushback rack depth begins with usable inventory
Available systems commonly store 2–6 pallets deep, but actual pallets per SKU should determine lane depth. Examine ordinary balances between replenishments alongside promotional and seasonal peaks. A lane sized around the largest receipt can remain partly unavailable for much of the year if the assigned product seldom fills it.
Nested carts roll on inclined rails, carrying earlier pallets backward as a new load is placed. When the front pallet leaves, the remaining inventory advances toward the aisle through controlled unloading. The forklift remains in the aisle and does not enter the storage structure to collect the rear loads.
This creates LIFO handling: last-in, first-out. The newest pallet in a lane is normally retrieved before older pallets behind it. Third-party inventory may also require separation by owner, lot, or status, so one product description alone may not provide enough information to establish an appropriate lane assignment.

Northwest Quadrant freight activity, internal storage decisions
In the Northwest Quadrant and Utah Inland Port area, connections to I-80 and I-215 help frame inbound planning, but they do not determine storage depth. A third-party logistics operation near Salt Lake International Center needs space for client segregation, receipt checks, and outbound staging. Food distribution along California Avenue adds rotation questions to that same design discussion. Our business, a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., draws on supplying and installing warehouse equipment since 1997.
Pushback pallet rack fit beyond the floor plan
Pallet acceptance
Compare the cart support arrangement with actual pallet bottoms, dimensions, condition, and load distribution. A logistics operation receiving several pallet styles should define acceptable constructions rather than assuming every inbound load will fit.
Beam and frame selection
Size beams and frames for the specified pallet weights, loaded lane arrangement, support reactions, and storage elevations. Include the cart-and-rail equipment in the structural review instead of borrowing a capacity from a different rack layout.
Truck approach
Measure the loaded forklift envelope, attachment geometry, turning needs, and placement height. Reducing internal aisles does not justify narrowing the remaining working aisle below what the handling equipment and actual loads require.
Compatibility review
Treat existing rack compatibility as an open question until components, connections, condition, dimensions, and documented capacities are checked. Reusing steel may be possible, but similarity to neighboring bays is not verification.
Pushback rack alongside selective and flow storage
Selective rack accommodates slow movers, mixed lots, and inventory requiring direct individual access. It can form the exception area beside deeper reserves. For changing client portfolios, retain enough flexibility to absorb new products without forcing small quantities into lanes that strand otherwise usable positions.
Drive-in rack may fit large, steady quantities of a smaller SKU group when truck entry is acceptable. Compare its dedicated inventory depth and entry clearances with aisle-served reserves. The choice should reflect product concentration and handling practices, not simply which option draws the largest storage rectangle.
FIFO pallet flow supports earlier-inventory release from a separate retrieval face. Food and beverage products with strict date rotation may warrant that arrangement despite the access space needed at both ends. Evaluate the movement sequence with the warehouse team before accepting a LIFO layout for date-sensitive goods.

Compare occupied capacity, not just drawn positions
Bring a pushback rack inquiry with client or SKU balances, rotation rules, pallet specifications, and a layout showing the busiest dock and pick areas. Include planned inventory changes. We can outline storage options, identify retained material requiring review, and discuss installation work areas without treating receiving space as spare capacity. (801) 942-0493.
