    Pushback Rack in Layton, UT

Pushback rack in Layton can concentrate reserve stock without sending the forklift into the storage lanes. Multiple pallets share a lane served from a single working aisle, reducing the number of aisles needed within the storage block. The arrangement works best when several pallets of a product can follow the same retrieval sequence.

Defense supply, wholesale distribution, and building products do not have identical storage needs. A packaged component may require specific lot access, while a replenishment load of ordinary supplies may tolerate reverse receipt order. Establish those handling distinctions before treating all reserve inventory as a candidate for deeper storage.

Pushback rack operation and lane assignment

Typical arrangements store 2–6 pallets deep on nested carts running along inclined rails. A new pallet moves earlier loads backward during placement. Removing the front load allows the remaining pallets to advance toward the aisle in the system's controlled unloading sequence, with the operator handling loads from outside the rack.

The forklift remains in the aisle rather than traveling into the lane. That distinction can simplify access between neighboring products, but it does not remove truck-clearance requirements. Check turning space, lifting height, attachment dimensions, and the loaded envelope before assigning the recovered floor area to more storage.

Retrieval is LIFO: last-in, first-out. Assign each lane to compatible inventory and separate lots whenever their release rules demand independent access. For sensitive components, an apparently identical package is not enough evidence that any pallet can be issued first; the inventory-control requirements must guide the assignment.

Davis County supply routes meet warehouse handling

Layton's Davis County location connects suppliers with I-15 and nearby distribution activity, including the Freeport Center in Clearfield. Those connections matter when receipt batches feed a reserve area near Hill Field Road or Antelope Drive: unloading space and inspection holds must remain available outside the lanes. A defense supplier should distinguish released inventory from material awaiting checks. Our team is a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., whose supplying and installing work dates to 1997.

Pushback pallet rack specifications worth verifying

    1

    Inventory depth

Use actual pallets per SKU to determine lane depth, including balances immediately before replenishment. Large occasional deliveries should not dictate the entire layout when everyday stock occupies only a fraction of those positions.

    2

    Supported pallet range

Document pallet dimensions, bottom construction, load stability, and minimum and maximum weights. Defense-supply packaging and wholesale pallets may require separate support reviews even when both enter through the same receiving doors.

    3

    Structural load path

Select beam and frame capacities for the complete arrangement, including loaded lanes, cart assemblies, rail supports, and storage elevations. Average pallet weight is not a substitute for the heaviest load allowed in each location.

    4

    Reuse assessment

Existing rack compatibility must be reviewed, not presumed from its present use. Identify the manufacturer and components, examine condition, and verify connection and capacity information before including retained frames or beams in the proposal.

Pushback rack belongs beside the right alternatives

Selective storage provides direct access when SKU counts are high or individual pallets must be chosen by lot. Keeping those products outside the deeper reserve block can prevent unnecessary reshuffling. Evaluate the two areas together so compact reserves do not create congestion at the active pick locations they replenish.

Drive-in rack may suit a narrower product range with consistently larger reserve quantities. Its truck-entry arrangement changes both handling and clearance checks. Compare the inventory needed to fill dedicated lanes with the actual replenishment cycle rather than assuming the deepest layout will provide the most useful storage.

FIFO pallet flow is the stronger comparison when stock must leave in receipt order. Its separate loading and picking faces require access on both sides, which belongs in the footprint calculation. Products with short dates or strict batch release should not be forced into LIFO merely to match neighboring reserves.

Build the proposal around released inventory

For a pushback rack proposal, send product-level pallet quantities, release restrictions, load weights, and a floor plan showing receiving and production access. Identify anything intended for reuse. We can then explain lane assignments, structural review needs, and material staging without assuming every incoming pallet is immediately available for storage.
