    Pushback Rack in Draper, UT

Pushback rack in Draper gives repeated pallet loads a shared storage lane while keeping the forklift in the operating aisle. Nested carts travel on inclined rails, allowing incoming pallets to move earlier loads backward. When the front pallet is removed under controlled handling, the remaining loads advance toward the aisle.

For fulfillment operations replenishing several shifts, the useful measure is available inventory by SKU, not an empty-building position total. Separate full-pallet reserve from case picking and outbound staging. Products with recurring reserve quantities can justify deeper lanes; short runs and frequently selected individual pallets often belong elsewhere.

Pushback rack depth follows replenishment quantities

Begin with actual pallets per SKU over several receiving and withdrawal cycles. Systems commonly accommodate two to six pallets deep, but that range is not a reason to choose the deepest configuration. Assign depth around the stock normally remaining after replenishment, including separate lanes where lots cannot mix.

Each lane operates last-in, first-out: the latest pallet placed at the aisle is normally the first retrieved. That sequence can suit interchangeable reserve loads, but it does not create date rotation automatically. Identify products needing oldest-first withdrawal before allocating their storage positions.

A pushback pallet rack reduces the number of access aisles relative to an all-selective arrangement without making every pallet independently accessible. Compare occupied positions under ordinary inventory conditions. A deep lane dedicated to a slow seller can strand capacity even when its drawing shows several available positions.

Reserve planning between Draper receiving and dispatch

Around Draper Industrial Park and the 12300 South corridor, access to I-15 can make receiving and dispatch compete for the same floor. A fulfillment warehouse carrying packaged food or auto parts should protect staging space before assigning reserve lanes. Food lots may need shallower, separated lanes, while repeated parts replenishment can support deeper assignments. We operate as a division of Warehouse Equipment & Supplies Co., which has been supplying and installing warehouse equipment since 1997.

Push back racking requires a matched load and cart

    1

    Pallet contact

Measure the underside, runner direction, deck condition, and load overhang. Cart bearing surfaces must support the actual pallet throughout travel, not merely match its nominal outside dimensions.

    2

    Structural loading

Size beams and frames using actual maximum pallet weights, lane depth, system reactions, and proposed storage elevations. Include uneven product weights rather than substituting one convenient average.

    3

    Handling clearance

Check lift height, attachment geometry, aisle turning space, and placement visibility. Although the truck remains outside the storage lane, its loaded approach still governs usable aisle dimensions.

    4

    Existing steel

Treat an addition to existing rack as a compatibility review. Identify the frame and beam system, condition, connections, and capacity documentation before considering cart assemblies or altered loading.

Pushback rack choices alongside other storage

Selective rack preserves direct access to each pallet and can carry the changing assortment that feeds active picking. Combining selective positions with deeper reserve lanes lets fast-moving cartons and slower reserve pallets follow different handling patterns rather than forcing both into one storage rule.

Drive-in storage can accommodate larger homogeneous batches, but the forklift enters its structure to place and retrieve loads. Here, operators work from the aisle instead. Compare truck-entry requirements, lane quantities, and available working room rather than treating the two systems as interchangeable density options.

Where food products require first-in, first-out handling, evaluate pallet flow with separate loading and retrieval faces. Gravity movement alone does not make a storage system FIFO. Its direction of travel and access arrangement must support the required sequence, including any lot separation.

Bring the reserve pattern, not just the building dimensions

Send inventory quantities, loaded pallet photographs, weight ranges, and a sketch showing receiving and dispatch. Include the shifts when replenishment occurs. We can develop a storage scope around lane occupancy, handling space, and any existing equipment that needs verification before reuse. (801) 942-0493.
